UCLA researchers found that green building certification programs have successfully and significantly improved energy efficiency in large commercial buildings. However, programs such as LEED, Energy Star and the Better Buildings Challenge did not have significant increases in energy savings on smaller buildings. Read more...

About 1,000 hackers, including high school, undergraduate and graduate students, attended this year’s LA Hacks held in Pauley Pavilion. This year, data hacks, which deal with a large amount of data, were judged separately from non-data hacks, which can involve coding and building hardware. Read more...

The Samueli Foundation donated $20 million to UCLA’s Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science on Thursday.
The gift will support up to 50 first-year undergraduates in annual scholarships and research or industry internships. Read more...
