“Generating a playable video game could one day be as simple as shooting a TikTok,” said Dr. Cao, Tripo AI’s chief scientist.

Generative AI has mastered math homework, writing essays, and image generation. Tripo AI is pushing these boundaries, moving beyond basic content creation and into production of interactive digital worlds.

Cao said Tripo has already seen students turn AI-generated creations into business opportunities. He pointed to users who create and sell Roblox assets, as well as a college freshman who integrated Tripo’s 3D-generation technology into a web-based product that later attracted users and generated revenue. There are even educational applications, spanning all things from interactive biological models for life science classes to 3D interactive maps for learning geography.

Looking further into the future, Cao said world models could provide virtual environments for robotics training, allowing machines to learn tasks in simulation before operating in the real world. “The next great game studio might literally be just a couple of college students in a dorm room,” Cao said.
