UCLA football will stay at the Rose Bowl for the 2026 season.
Mary Osako, UCLA’s vice chancellor for strategic communications, announced the news in a Saturday statement. The decision comes amid a breach-of-contract lawsuit filed by the City of Pasadena and Rose Bowl Operating Company accusing the university of trying to move its home football games to SoFi Stadium.

The lawsuit alleges that UCLA told both parties it would not stay at the Rose Bowl long-term, despite the fact the university’s contract with the Rose Bowl is valid through 2044.
A judge denied the plaintiffs’ motion to file a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction against UCLA on Nov. 12, citing a “lack of emergency.” However, the judge added that the plaintiffs could reapply for an injunction if both parties obtained more evidence.

UCLA motioned for the case to move to arbitration, but the court denied it early February, saying the case must continue in the public court system.
“We know how much game day means to Bruins — to our students, alumni and fans who plan their autumn around Saturdays together,” Osako said in the statement. “Our priority is delivering a strong season experience for our student-athletes and our community, and we have great momentum in our football program.”
The defendants and plaintiffs will appear in court Friday for a case management conference, according to the Pasadena Star-News.
“During this unprecedented time in college athletics, UCLA will always be guided by what’s best for our student-athletes and the Bruin community,” Osako said in the statement.
