UCPD recorded 669 unique entries in its Jan. 1 to Jan. 31 daily crime log.

The department received 148 crime reports from Jan. 1 to Jan. 31 that resulted in active police cases. Of the 148 reports resulting in cases, 75 were open cases and 73 were closed or inactive as of Feb. 3, according to a UCPD crime and fire log.

Theft and burglary was the most common category, with 63 reports resulting in cases, followed by 18 reports of traffic and vehicle-related incidents, according to the log.

UCPD also recorded 521 events that did not result in active cases, with the following statuses as of February 3:

Detail handled, no report: 127

Report taken: 50

Information only: 46

Non-criminal matter: 86

Warned or advised: 31

Canceled (by any party): 61

Victim not desirous of report: 37

Referred to outside agency: 32

Unable to locate: 41

Field interviewed: 6

Courtesy report: 3

Citation issued: 6

Unfounded: 1

Of the 521 incidents not resulting in cases, nine were categorized as sex crimes. UCPD categorized one as a sexual battery report and eight as indecent exposure reports.

Data for this story was obtained as a public record under the Jeanne Clery Act, which requires universities to report campus crime data.
