Throughout her tenure as Facilities Commissioner, Joy Huang has demonstrated a deep commitment to serving the UCLA student body.

She has consistently submitted officer reports and made them accessible to the public through the USAC website and Facilities Commission’s Instagram. In addition, the Facilities Commission maintains a centralized link page containing officer reports, contact information, and office resources. While Huang noted that students frequently visit her office informally, she acknowledged that formal office hours have not yet been established and plans to implement them to improve two-way engagement.
The platforms of sustainability and environmental justice, campus accessibility, transportation and built spaces, and coalition building, substantiated Huang’s campaign. With regard to sustainability, her office has repeatedly tabled to promote the reusable mug program at Kerckhoff Coffeehouse, encouraged waste reduction through Sustainable Move-In and Move-Out on the Hill, and worked with environmental justice groups in Los Angeles to advocate for green spaces.
However, Huang’s accessibility work has focused on advocacy rather than structural change. She meets weekly with the Disabled Student Union to discuss elevator and ramp repairs, Bruin Access Services funding, Center for Accessible Education accountability and accessibility mapping. She is also working to secure a permanent location for the Lily Shaw Disability Cultural Center, which remains in the planning stages. Yet, Huang confirmed that no additional funding has been secured for Bruin Access Services under her leadership, which she said continues to face service delays of up to eight hours.
In transportation and built spaces, Huang’s office has worked with the LA Department of Transportation on safety improvements along Westwood Boulevard and supported renewal and promotion of the student transit pass. While Huang has clearly fulfilled the responsibilities of her office and maintained strong transparency, limited progress on securing new funding and permanent structural outcomes limits the full completion of her campaign platforms.
