It is clear that Hyerim Yoon is a competent and enthusiastic leader.

She undoubtedly understands the struggles facing transfer Bruins, and she is tackling them head-on. When she heard transfer students were widely unaware of USAC, she expanded advertisement of open positions and volunteered at the Transfer Student Center to spread the word.
Yoon’s work has transcended just Bruins. She promised to collaborate with California community college students and has since established a committee in her office that has led several panels for prospective students. Although she admits some of her platforms were possibly too broad, Yoon has proved she can follow through on her promises, from hosting town halls to wellness events during finals week.
She is passionate about supporting and uplifting transfer Bruins, and she is proud to be able to engage with so many students.
“I feel like that’s my biggest accomplishment, that people feel safe turning to me as a leader,” she said.
As for transparency, she consistently reaffirms her priority of accountability. Her officer reports are detailed and comprehensive, providing updates on internal affairs, events and platform completion. She understands that USAC officers are public servants paid by student fees and has thus hosted several town halls for students to ask questions, implemented a newsletter so students know what is going on in her office and posted quarterly transparency reports on her office’s Instagram account.
We are confident in Yoon’s abilities and excited for what she has in store for the rest of the year.
