Parts of Wilshire Boulevard in Westwood will close this week because of construction on a new Los Angeles Metro station.
The westbound side of Wilshire Boulevard between Veteran Avenue and Westwood Boulevard will be blocked from 11 p.m. on Jan. 2 to the early morning of Jan. 5 as crews remove decking from the area, according to LA Metro. The eastbound side of Wilshire Boulevard will also be reduced to two lanes throughout the same time period.
Westbound traffic on Wilshire Boulevard will be diverted to Santa Monica Boulevard, according to LA Metro.

The planned Westwood/UCLA D Line Metro station is scheduled to be completed between winter 2026 and fall 2027, according to LA Metro. Construction on the larger D Line extension project – which runs through downtown LA, Koreatown and Beverly Hills – has been ongoing for over a decade.
Michael Griffin, a former co-director of transportation equity and access for the Undergraduate Students Association Council Facilities Commission, said in 2025 that the new station would be “transformative” for UCLA students – allowing Bruins to commute to downtown LA in less than 25 minutes.
“That’s faster than driving,” Griffin added. “Even when there’s little traffic.”
