Davina Woods, a senior custodian and member of the AFSCME Local 3299 bargaining team, said that despite workers facing difficulty in affording basic needs – including food and medical care – no progress has been made in negotiations with the University.

“Let’s bargain these wages. Let’s bargain this housing. Let’s bargain on job security,” she said. “I’m being stretched to the limit because a lot of my co-workers – they move, basically retire, they quit and they’re not being replaced.”

A UC Office of the President spokesperson said Friday that the University had not received a substantial counterproposal from the union since April.
