UCPD recorded 549 unique entries in its daily crime log from July 1 to 31.
University police received 114 crime reports, which resulted in active police cases, from July 1 to 31. Of the 114 crime reports resulting in cases, 37 were open cases and 77 were closed or inactive as of Aug. 6, according to a UCPD crime and fire log.
Theft and burglary was the most common category, with 42 reports resulting in cases. It was followed by 27 reports involving drugs and controlled substances, according to the log.
UCPD also recorded 435 events that did not result in active cases, with the following statuses as of Aug. 6:

Non-criminal matter: 85
Warned or advised: 17
Canceled (by any party): 39
Victim not desirous of report: 16
Referred to outside agency: 39

Of the 435 incidents not resulting in cases, nine were categorized as a rape or other sex crime. UCPD categorized four as rape reports, four as sexual battery reports and one as an indecent exposure report.
Data for this story was obtained as a public record under the Jeanne Clery Act, which requires universities to report campus crime data.
