Crimewatch: June 2025

UCPD recorded 643 unique entries in its June 1 to June 30 daily crime log.

University police received 150 crime reports from June 1 to June 30 that resulted in active police cases. Of the 150 crime reports resulting in cases, 74 were open cases and 76 were closed or inactive as of July 3, according to a UCPD crime and fire log.

Theft and burglary was the most common category, with 57 reports resulting in cases, followed by 13 reports of assault and battery, according to the log.

UCPD also recorded 493 events that did not result in active cases, with the following statuses as of July 3:

Detail handled, no report: 98

Report taken: 74

Information only: 52

Non-criminal matter: 82

Warned or advised: 30

Canceled (by any party): 61

Victim not desirous of report: 26

Referred to outside agency: 31

Unable to locate: 29

Field interviewed: 3

Courtesy report: 4

Of the 493 incidents not resulting in cases, 11 were categorized as a rape or another sex crime. UCPD categorized five events as rape reports, three as sexual battery reports and three as indecent exposure reports.

Data for this story was obtained as a public record under the Jeanne Clery Act, which requires universities to report campus crime data.
