Klein testified that he experienced emotional distress because of his suspension, saying he had difficulty sleeping and eating and developed a full-body rash. He became visibly emotional while testifying about the situation’s impact on his relationship with his daughter, whom he said became upset with him. He added that he feared losing contact with his young grandchildren.

After the incident, Klein said he experienced severe anxiety, was prescribed medication, and had panic attacks when near the UCLA campus.
