Jeanna Harris, a UPTE-CWA 9119 unit representative, said she believes the labor conditions at UCLA Health are “ongoing chaos,” resulting from understaffing. She added that recent cuts to medical funding have increased the necessity of a strike and that currently maintaining a career as a technical or health care worker is currently unsustainable.

“No matter how hard I work as a case manager … and no matter how many patients we discharge, there’s always a critical capacity,” Harris said.
