Heidi Garcia, a fourth-year communications student and member of the Student Labor Advocacy Project, said over 70 SLAP members coordinated to support the striking unions. SLAP set up an information booth in Bruin Plaza and are also selling buttons to raise funds for both unions, along with passing out flyers advocating for a boycott of all ASUCLA locations in solidarity with the strikes. Garcia added that neither SLAP nor the boycott are union-affiliated.

“Poor working conditions and low wages are also something that student workers experience as well,” Garcia added. “We all need to stand in solidarity with these workers, because everyone is fighting the same fight in general.”
