For a second-straight January, the Undergraduate Students Association Council Facilities commissioner has resigned.
Facilities Commissioner Alexandra Paul resigned from her position Tuesday. Paul, a fourth-year public affairs student, became the third person to fill the position in the span of less than six months after being elected in May unopposed.
The Facilities Commission is responsible for advocating for sustainability and accessibility in campus facilities, according to the office’s student organization webpage.
The commissioner is responsible for appointing four student representatives to The Green Initiative Fund – which was allocated over $330,000 for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, according to a spreadsheet detailing the council’s budget.

Prior to being elected, Paul was the co-director of the Bruin Bazaar, one of the Facilities Commission’s projects for the 2023-2024 academic year. Paul is also a transfer student and self-identified as a member of the disabled community, according to a post from her office.
Former Facilities Commissioner Evan Curran – who was elected to the position in May 2023 – resigned in January 2024. He was succeeded by Nilaya Kanuri, who filled the role from February until Paul’s election as commissioner.

Paul did not respond in time to a request for comment on her resignation. She also did not respond to requests for comment when asked about her goals for her position in August.
In a written statement sent Wednesday, USAC President Adam Tfayli said Paul resigned because of “personal and academic reasons.” He added that the council appreciates the work she did as commissioner.
According to the USA Bylaws, new members of the council are selected via open interviews. The council’s president then nominates a candidate to be voted on by the council.
