Although UCLA is operating on an emergency status – and classes are online until Friday – there are no evacuation warnings or orders for the UCLA campus as of 9:50 a.m. Thursday.
UCLA is co-ordinating financial donations to support people impacted by the fires through the Economic Crisis Fund, Employee Relief Fund and Health Employee Relief Fund, according to a Thursday post on Bruins Safe Online.
First responders across the UC – including a fire truck from the UC Davis Fire Department – have assisted in fighting a fire which began in Pasadena and Altadena, according to the post. The UC Irvine Police Department has also assisted in patrolling evacuated areas around that fire to deter looting.
UC Riverside, UC Davis and California State University campuses will transport and house people if UCLA is ordered to evacuate, according to the post. The Interim Fire Chief at Davis has also been helping coordinate emergency operations at UCLA.
“UC San Francisco has donated 1,000 N95 masks for California National Guard service members deployed to Los Angeles,” a UC Office of Emergency Management spokesperson said in the post.
