Relief efforts in response to the fires has taken work from across the University of California, UC President Michael Drake said in a UC Network email update. UCLA has donated a research park to a Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster recovery center, and UCLA Health has been treating patients, he said.

UC Davis and UC Irvine has also sent first responders to the front lines, Drake said in the email.
“We are all horrified and saddened at the death and destruction wrought by the wildfires,” he said in the email. “My thoughts are with everyone in the UC community and the greater Los Angeles region impacted by this devastating disaster.”
The UC is continuing to fund climate change research, Drake said, adding that UC San Diego launched the Wildfire Science and Technology Commons during the fall.
