In a Tuesday press conference at the opening of the Disaster Recovery Center at UCLA’s Research Park, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said the Los Angeles County wildfires are still an ongoing emergency and residents should not wait until an evacuation order is declared to evacuate.

“We know in the next 24-48 hours, it is possible there are fires that expand, that we have additional problems within the city,” she said. “If you are told that you are in a warning zone, it would be advised that you actually take that opportunity to leave.”
