Several fires continue to burn in Southern California.

The Palisades fire, which is closest to UCLA, has a size of 23,713 acres and is 17% contained, according to the Cal Fire website. Although areas under evacuation warning for the fire continue to border UCLA, there are no evacuation warnings or orders for the UCLA campus as of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The air quality as UCLA has been rated as “good” for over 48 hours, according to the UCLA air quality website. However, some residents of Los Angeles County should continue to exercise caution.

“The South Coast Air Quality Management District is recommending that Angelenos wear well-fitting, medical grade masks while outside when air quality is poor, or if you smell smoke or see ash,” according to a press release from Mayor Karen Bass’ office sent late Monday.

A disaster recovery center is set to open 1 p.m. Tuesday at the UCLA Research Park, formerly known as Westside Pavilion. Disaster relief centers are already open, including at the Westwood Recreation Center.

A fire which began in Pasadena and Altadena has a size of 14,117 acres and is 35% contained, according to Cal Fire. The fire has previously caused people, including UCLA students, to lose their home.
