The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration is giving an automatic three-month extension to tax filing deadlines for people in Los Angeles County whose last return saw them pay less than $1 million, according to a press release from the department.

Taxpayers heavily impacted by recent fires across the county can reach out to the department for additional assistance, according to the press release.

“The loss resulting from these fires is devastating for business owners who have invested so much and worked so hard to succeed,” said CDTFA Director Nick Maduros in the press release. “Beyond the automatic extension, we encourage taxpayers who need help with any CDTFA program to reach out to us.”

The move comes after the federal government announced assistance to affected people, businesses and infrastructure across the county.

As of 9:45 a.m. Monday, Westwood and the UCLA campus are not – and have not been – under evacuation order. However, some Westwood businesses have been assisting local evacuees.
