IN THE NEWS:

Coachella 2025

Jan. 11, 2025 6:54 p.m.

Strong winds – including gusts of over 70 miles per hour – are expected overnight, with conditions potentially worsening, said Los Angeles City Councilmember Katy Yaroslavsky in a 6:25 p.m. email to local residents.

“While lower overnight temperatures may help firefighting efforts on the ground, high winds could challenge aerial operations, with the possibility of grounding helicopters temporarily,” she said in the email.

Weather forecasters also expect winds and low humidity that could increase fire risk Monday through Wednesday next week, Yaroslavsky said in the email. LA County remains under red flag warning until at least Jan. 15, she said.
