In an emailed press release sent at 11:10 p.m., Katy Yaroslavsky – the Los Angeles city council member who represents an area including UCLA – said nonemergency parking laws will not be enforced Wednesday. However, people should still avoid parking in red zones or areas needed for firefighting operations, she said.

Yaroslavsky also said the Westwood Recreation Center is fully stocked with supplies and gave an update on the Sunset fire, which started in Runyon Canyon.

“The Sunset Fire is now 42 acres,” she said in the statement. “Thanks to reduced wind speeds, fire crews and helicopters have made significant progress.”
