Katy Yaroslavsky – the Los Angeles City councilmember whose district covers UCLA – said in a press release that an air quality warning will be in place until at least 5 p.m. Thursday.

“Wildfire smoke and ash can pose serious health risks, especially to sensitive groups like children, older adults, pregnant individuals, and those with heart or lung conditions,” she said in the statement.

Yaroslavsky also said in the statement that people should take steps including packing essential items in a bag in case they have to evacuate, planning evacuation routes and paying attention to updated announcements from emergency services.
