UCPD is searching for four individuals suspected of committing an assault and hate crime on Weyburn Avenue on Tuesday.
According to a crime alert sent Thursday, the victim was walking along Weyburn Avenue around 6 p.m. when a black convertible pulled up to the victim yelling homophobic slurs and throwing wads of paper – though the alert said the victim was not struck.
“The UCLA Police Department takes all crimes impacting our campus community seriously,” said Acting Captain of the Administrative Bureau Jeffrey Chobanian in an emailed statement. “We thoroughly investigate every hate crime and report it to the California Department of Justice when applicable.”
The victim was a UCLA student, according to the alert.
The suspects are four males in their early 20s, according to the alert.
UCPD is searching for a black Mercedes convertible. No injuries were reported.
This case is currently under investigation. Anyone with information can call UCPD at 310-825-1491.
