UCPD is searching for two individuals suspected of an off-campus burglary.

According to a crime alert sent Monday morning, two people entered a residence on the 10900 block of Strathmore Drive around 3:45 a.m. Friday and proceeded to take an electric scooter and a speaker. The block houses buildings including UCLA fraternities and private apartments.

The victim – who was home at the time – is a UCLA student, according to the alert.

One suspect was male and wore a black-colored hat, sweater, shorts and shoes with white socks, while the other suspect – who was female – wore a white sweater, black pants and white shoes, according to the alert. Both suspects appeared to be white or Hispanic, according to the alert.

A gray Hyundai Elantra sedan was reported in the alert as being involved with the incident.

In an emailed statement, UCPD Acting Operation Bureau Captain Jeffrey Chobanian said the UCPD engages in efforts to prevent scooter theft – including a “bait scooter program.” He added in the statement that UCPD notifies suspects that additional offenses will lead to arrests.

“Scooters play an important role in the UCLA community’s transportation, and we remain dedicated to safeguarding people’s property,” Chobanian said in the statement.
