For UCLA fourth-year political science student Maya Carpenter, who has come to the rivalry game for the last three years, attending the matchup is a tradition.
Carpenter said the game has particular importance to her because her family members support USC. This year, though, she decided to attend a pre-game tailgate with her friends rather than her family so she could get a “true Bruin experience.”
Carpenter said if the Bruins lose, she’ll have to paint her nails red, as part of a bet she has with her USC-attending boyfriend.
