Jennifer Palomino, a member of the commissary team for UCLA who makes food for the dining halls and other locations, said she believes that withholding labor is the only way to show the UC it needs to pay fair wages.

“They always have the same answer for everything. ‘We don’t have money, we don’t have funds.’ Yet, they’re raising tuition,” she said. “They’re raising insurance costs, parking permits – everything’s going up except our wages.”
