Hannah Appel, an associate professor of anthropology and a member of Faculty for Justice in Palestine at UCLA, said in a speech in Dickson Court North that Blackstone – a private equity firm – is to blame for what she and other speakers have called a global housing crisis.

“Is there anyone here who cannot afford your rent?” she asked. “Blame the UC system.”
