THE HILL – While many at the Ackerman Union are first-time voters, for some, political and civic participation has spanned years. Ike Orafor, who identifies as a political independent, said he has been voting in elections since 2014.

“If I want to have a say, I have to criticize something. I can’t criticize if I’m not voting,” Orafor said. “They (young voters) get to feel like they are actually part of changing this nation in the way they wanted it to be.”
