It’s finally time to go play in Westwood.

“We’re ready to be home,” said coach Alfee Reft. “We’ve been on the road for a while now – four and a half weeks – and it’s gonna be nice to be playing on our campus and our home gym.”

UCLA women’s volleyball (6-4, 0-1 Big Ten) is ready to play in its first Big Ten home game hosting Ohio State (7-4, 0-1) in Pauley Pavilion this afternoon.

“I’m so excited to be home,” said graduate student middle blocker Anna Dodson. “We’ve been on the road for what feels like years, and so it’s just going to be such a great environment to be back in Pauley. We are all just ecstatic to be in such a great environment that is home.”

Junior outside hitter Cheridyn Leverette shined bright in UCLA’s most recent match against Nebraska, notching a team-high 17 kills and 11 digs. Her performance was aided by Dodson, who recorded eight kills and eight blocks. The Bruins showed resilience in the third set, rallying to secure a crucial frame prolonging their battle against the nation’s No. 2 opponent.

UCLA currently holds a 6-4 record, with a win against California and a loss to UC Davis preceding its defeat to Nebraska.

Ohio State is coming off of a 3-2 loss to USC after winning its previous two contests against Bowling Green.

Ohio State outside hitter Emily Londot finished the match against USC with a career-high 15 kills, 10 blocks and 11 digs for her sixth straight double-double and first career triple-double, becoming the first Division I non-setter in the nation to do so this season.

As the Bruins gear up for the first Big Ten match at home, it’s all about the fine details.

“I know this team still has more,” Leverette said. “We’re excited to take this new kind of stage of our season and just continue to grow from this point forward.”
