Residents of the Laurel apartment building lost water access Sunday afternoon.

According to an email to Laurel residents at 12:40 p.m. from UCLA Housing, residents of the southwest campus building will be out of hot and cold water for the rest of Sunday “until further notice” for necessary repairs.

“Maintenance needs to conduct an emergency hot and cold-water shutdown in your building,” the statement said.

As of 2:48 p.m. on Sunday, caution tape was placed around the side of the building facing Weyburn Place, and the garbage room on the first floor appeared to be flooded.

The statement did not give an estimate of when water would be restored and advised residents to check the quality of their water upon restoration.

In an email sent at 6:14 p.m. on Sunday, UCLA Housing announced that water access had been restored and that residents were advised to check water quality, water pressure and to run the taps to clear pipes.

At 9:51 a.m. on Monday, Laurel residents were notified that their hot water would be shut off until 1:00 p.m in an emailed statement from UCLA Housing.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience while we work to complete the necessary repairs,” the statement said.

UCLA Media Relations did not respond to requests for comment regarding the cause of the outage.

This is an ongoing story and will be updated when more information becomes available.
