UCPD recorded 596 unique entries in its August daily crime log.

University police received 155 crime reports in August that resulted in active police cases.

Of the 155 crime reports resulting in cases, 77 were open cases and 78 were closed or inactive as of Aug. 31, according to the UCPD crime and fire log.

Theft and burglary were the most common categories, with 72 reports resulting in cases, followed by 16 reports of drug and controlled substance, according to the log.

UCPD also recorded 441 events that did not result in active cases, with the following statuses as of Aug. 31:

Detail handled: no report: 105

Report taken: 70

Information only: 39

Non-criminal matter: 77

Warned or advised: 13

Canceled (by any party): 48

Victim not desirous of report: 11

Referred to outside agency: 31

Unable to locate: 27

Field interviewed: 4

Courtesy report: 5

Citation issued: 2

Unfounded: 1

Of the 441 incidents not resulting in cases, seven were categorized as rape or other sex crimes. UCPD categorized three events as rape reports, three as sexual battery reports and one as indecent exposure reports.

Data for this story was obtained as a public record under the Jeanne Clery Act, which requires universities to report campus crime data.
