ASUCLA Board of Directors recap – July 19

The ASUCLA Board of Directors held its first meeting of the 2024-2025 term virtually July 19.
The board, which is composed of a student majority, has financial oversight over ASUCLA entities, including the Undergraduate Students Association Council, the Graduate Student Association and the ASUCLA Communications Board – which oversees UCLA Student Media. ASUCLA also has responsibility for the UCLA Store, on-campus restaurants and some UCLA trademarks. Meetings of the board are open to the public and are normally held in Kerckhoff Hall.
Appointments:
- The board unanimously appointed Heeya Firdaus – an undergraduate student representative on the board – and Jackson Fletcher – a graduate student representative – to its executive committee.
- The board approved its appointees to its standing committee.
Financial statements:
- Executive Director and CEO Pouria Abbassi said ASUCLA has been working on a marketing plan as UCLA athletics transitions into the Big Ten athletic conference.
- Abbassi said deviations in net income across May were mainly caused by disruptions on campus and closures, which resulted in over $1 million in damages to ASUCLA property.
Action items:
- The board unanimously approved the Undergraduate Students Association’s budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
- The board unanimously approved the Graduate Student Association’s budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
- The board unanimously approved a $60,000 credit limit increase to the association’s corporate purchasing card.
- The board unanimously approved a $75,000 capital expenditure to implement and move from UKG Kronos On-Premise – which is a payroll platform – to the cloud version.
