UCLA announced that it will be continuing its pilot off-campus meal plan, which is available to residents in some university-owned apartments, for winter quarter.
In a Monday email sent to undergraduate students in University Apartments North – which includes the Laurel, Palo Verde and Tipuana buildings – UCLA Housing said the meal plan will offer 77 meals to students across the quarter at a total cost of $1,155, or $15 per meal. The plan will be offered to the first 500 students who sign up.

Unlike the initial pilot plan introduced in fall quarter, meal plan purchasers will be able to dine at any location on the Hill, though not on campus, according to the email.
“The meal plan can be used at any dining location on the Hill, including food trucks,” UCLA Housing said in the email. “This plan cannot be used at any ASUCLA locations, including Epic at Ackerman.”
The email also said that though the plan is equivalent to seven meals per week throughout the quarter, students will be able to decide when they want to use their meal swipes.
Students were also told in the email that they must finish the registration process to secure their meal plan.
“Due to the limited capacity of this pilot meal plan, you are not able to reserve or hold a meal plan by starting the application,” UCLA Housing said in the email. “If you start the application and return at a later time, capacity may be met and no more plans available to purchase.”
