UCPD recorded 710 unique entries in its January daily crime log.

University police received 172 crime reports in January that resulted in active police cases.

Of the 172 crime reports resulting in cases, 88 were open cases, and 84 were closed or inactive as of Feb 1, according to a UCPD crime and fire log.

Theft and burglary was the most common category, with 99 reports resulting in cases, followed by 16 reports of vandalism, according to the log.

UCPD also recorded 538 events that did not result in active cases, with the following statuses as of Feb 1:

Detail handled: no report: 122

Report taken: 86

Information only: 36

Non-criminal matter: 74

Warned or advised: 20

Canceled (by any party): 73

Victim not desirous of report: 26

Referred to outside agency: 42

Unable to locate: 37

Field interviewed: 7

Courtesy report: 5

Citation issued: 0

Unfounded: 3

Of the 538 incidents not resulting in cases, 12 were categorized as rape or other sex crime. UCPD categorized three events as rape reports, four as sexual battery reports and five as indecent exposure reports.
