Gallery: Tom Paxton and the DonJuans begin tour at McCabe’s Guitar Shop in Santa Monica

The Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner kick-started his first night of his tour with a performance at the Santa Monica guitar shop alongside the folk music duo the DonJuans.

Paxton’s latest album “All New” will be released July 29th. The album was a collaboration with folk music duo Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer.

Paxton added that due to the pandemic, they wrote all of the songs for the album over zoom.

Paxton said he encourages his younger audience to pursue their passions.

“Find your dream, and follow it,” Paxton said.

Paxton said that he got to know the DonJuans while they were teaching songwriting together at The Swannanoa Gathering in North Carolina.

“Jon said, ‘let’s write a song together.’ And so we did, and I liked it,” Paxton said.

Paxton added his love for folk music is what inspired his career.

“As far back as I can remember, I loved music. And I began to find folk music was a particular music that I loved,” Paxton said.
