LAPD finds no evidence of shots fired on Hilgard Avenue despite community reports

LAPD found no evidence that gunshots were fired on Hilgard Avenue on Monday night, according to UCLA.

The LAPD investigation followed multiple community reports of gunshots heard near sorority houses on Hilgard Avenue.

The incident was not reported to be connected to threats made by Matthew Harris, a former UCLA philosophy lecturer. Harris had sent threatening emails to students and faculty in the philosophy department Monday, prompting concerns of a mass shooting. He is now in Colorado police custody.
