UCPD searches for suspect reportedly involved in hot-prowl burglaries off campus

University police are looking for a suspect reportedly involved in two off-campus attempted hot prowl residential burglaries Thursday morning.

Both incidents occurred in the same building at the 11000 block of Venice Boulevard, according to a UCPD crime alert sent Thursday. One of the attempted burglaries took place between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday, while the other took place between 1 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, the alert said.

The victims are UCLA students, according to the crime alert.

The suspect reportedly attempted to enter the residences while they were occupied through the respective balcony doors.

UCPD did not provide a description of the subject.

No injuries or related vehicles were reported.

This case is currently under investigation. Anyone with information can call UCPD at 310-825-1491.
