UCPD recorded 675 unique entries in its October daily crime log.

University police received 129 crime reports in October that resulted in active police cases.
Ofthe 129 crime reports resulting in cases, 52 were open cases and 77 were closed or inactive as of Nov. 2, according to a UCPD crime and fire log.
Theft and burglary was the most common category, with 66 reports resulting in cases, followed by 17 reports of assault and battery, according to the log.
UCPD also recorded 546 events that did not result in active cases, with the following statuses as of Nov. 2:

Report taken: 57
Information only: 56
Non-criminal matter: 76
Warned or advised: 29
Canceled (by any party): 61
Victim not desirous of report: 20
Referred to outside agency: 32
Unable to locate: 31
Field interviewed: 15
Courtesy report: 8
Of the 546 incidents not resulting in cases, 16 were categorized as rape or other sex crime. UCPD categorized twelve events as rape reports and four as sexual battery reports.
Data for this story was obtained as a public record under the Jeanne Clery Act, which requires universities to report campus crime data.
