University police investigates report of strong-arm robbery on Tiverton Drive

University police are looking for a suspect who reportedly attempted to rob and attack an individual Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred near the parking structure on Tiverton Drive around 2:30 p.m., according to a UCPD crime alert sent Wednesday.

The suspect reportedly grabbed the victim’s handbag, removed a water bottle from it and attempted to throw the bottle at the victim.

UCPD described the suspect as an Asian man around 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-10 with a thin, athletic build. The suspect was reported to be wearing a surgical mask, dark blue hoodie, dark pants and dark tennis shoes.

The victim was not affiliated with UCLA, according to the crime alert.

No injuries or related vehicles were reported.

The case is currently under investigation. Anyone with information can call UCPD at 310-825-1491.
