Magnitude 4.5 earthquake strikes approximately 20 miles from UCLA campus

A magnitude 4.5 earthquake hit Los Angeles on Friday evening, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The quake started at 11:38 p.m. in Rosemead, California, which is around 20 miles from the UCLA campus.
A 2019 survey found that at least 15 UCLA-affiliated buildings – including Powell Library and Charles E. Young Research Library – pose a serious risk to life in the event of a major earthquake.
