Christina Indudhara wore white platforms with embroidered flowers from Nordstrom. The second-year statistics student said she loves the aesthetic of embroidery and finds the addition particularly stylish on sneakers. Indudhara said she also loves the height of her shoes. “The more height, the cooler you are,” she said.

First-year political science student Stephanie Batres wore platform Pumas she received as a Christmas gift. She wore them because they accented her blue embroidered jeans and made her a few inches taller.

Stella So bought her white platform slip-ons online from a Korean shopping site. The fourth-year computer science student said she likes white shoes and prefers the plastic material because they stay clean. She also likes to look tall when she goes to class, she said.

Sydney McGillis wore all-white platform, leather Superga sneakers. The second-year political science student said she likes them because they give her some extra height since she is barely five feet tall. She also appreciates the convenience, since the shoes go with a lot of outfits and are easy to put on before her 9:00 a.m. class, she said.

First-year world arts and cultures student Martha Cabot sported black platform Skechers, which she purchased at Goodwill in Santa Monica. She likes vintage shoes, but good shoes are often hard to find since she has small feet, she said.
