
Sophomore pitcher Jon Olsen spent the entire season as the No. 3 starter, but coach John Savage elected to start the righty in the second game of the postseason. Olsen threw 7.6 innings and gave up two runs.

Following a double, freshman right fielder Michael Toglia advanced to third on a fly out. He would go on to score the Bruins’ first run of the game on a single.

Brett Stephens didn’t get up for several minutes after a pitch struck his knee. The senior left fielder eventually walked to first under his own power and felt good enough to run the base.

Junior first baseman Sean Bouchard scored in the bottom of the eighth inning to tie the game and force extra innings.

Daniel Rosica reached on an error in the bottom of the ninth inning, but gave way to a pinch runner who, at the time, represented the winning run.

Freshman third baseman Ryan Kreidler attempted to go first-to-third on a wild pitch in the 10th inning, but was thrown out.

Senior Scott Burke was brought in with the bases loaded in the final inning of the game. The first pitch he threw hit the batter, scoring the winning run.

Amaral recorded the final out of UCLA baseball’s season in the bottom of the 13th inning – a fly out to right field.

Toglia’s freshman season ended with two quick losses at the regional. The right fielder slashed .261/.382/.483.
