University police are searching for three people who struck a man from behind and stole his wallet early Friday morning in the North Village.

The man, who is unaffiliated with UCLA, told UCPD he was walking on Strathmore Drive at about 3:54 a.m. when three people hit him in the ribs and face from behind, causing him to fall to the ground, according to a UCPD alert. They then demanded his wallet, which he gave them, and left the area on foot in an unknown direction.

UCPD could not provide full descriptions of the people involved.

No further information was immediately available. The case is still under investigation.

Anyone with information about this case can call UCPD at 310-825-1495.
