Police arrested a suspect Thursday after a carjacking and collision at the intersection of Westwood Boulevard and Le Conte Avenue.

The suspect was arrested at 5:55 p.m. and charged with grand theft auto, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. He may also be charged for kidnapping.

The suspect entered the victim’s car while she was stopped at a traffic light and told her to drive south down Westwood Boulevard, but the vehicle crashed into the central median, according to LAPD.

After the impact, the suspect fled south down the street, where he was detained by UCPD and taken into custody.

The suspect claimed he has mental health issues and is on medication, according to LAPD.
