Cassidy Shields, a fourth-year psychobiology student; Ashly True, a fourth-year anthropology student; and Alex Cantrell, a fourth-year human biology and society student, are participating in the event. Shields said she is dancing for her uncle who has AIDS to raise awareness about the disease.

Jordan Benjamin, a Canadian artist known by the stage name grandson, electrified the Dance Marathon audience with his original song ''Bills'' and an unreleased song ''Best Friends.''

During its set, Bruin Harmony performed an a cappella rendition of ''Give Me Love'' by Ed Sheeran. ''We are performing 'Give Me Love' because we want to advocate that everyone deserves love and love is the way to battle the stigma of AIDS,'' said fourth-year aerospace engineering student Prescott Rynewicz, president of Bruin Harmony.
