USAC recap – July 20

The Undergraduate Students Association Council is the official student government representing the undergraduate student body at UCLA. Council meetings usually take place every week on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Kerckhoff 417 and are open to all students. This week’s meeting occurred on Monday, July 20. Agenda

  • The council unanimously approved the appointment of fourth-year biology student Robert Bang to the Community Activities Committee.

  • The council unanimously appointed third-year biochemistry student Malavika Raju to the Campus Programs Committee.

  • The council unanimously approved an allocation of $204 from the Contingency Programming Fund to student groups.

Officer reports

  • President Heather Rosen said she will be attending a retreat with University of California student government presidents at the end of the month. Rosen said she has been discussing with the California Coalition for Public Higher Education to find ways to get more students involved in lobbying efforts.

  • Michael Pinkerton, a proxy for External Vice President Zach Helder, said the office will be releasing applications this week for the University of California Student Association student conference August 13-16. The office will be sending 60 students to Sacramento.
