Softball reaches Women’s College World Series for first time since 2010

The drought is over.
Entering this weekend, UCLA softball hadn’t reached the Women’s College World Series for the past four years – the longest drought in school history. The Bruins needed to beat the Missouri Tigers in a best-of-three NCAA Super Regional series to ensure that drought wouldn’t extend another year.
No. 7 seed UCLA took care of business, dispatching Missouri 10-6 on Sunday to capture a 2-0 series victory. With the win, the Bruins (50-10) are back in the Women’s College World Series for the first time since 2010, when they won the national title.
UCLA will face a familiar Pac-12 foe – No. 2 seed Oregon (51-6) – in the first round of the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City on Thursday. The Bruins lost two of their three games to the Ducks this year and finished second in the Pac-12 standings behind the Ducks.
