Stickers targeting undocumented individuals found on campus

At least two stickers expressing negative sentiments about undocumented individuals were found Tuesday on newsstands near Campbell Hall and the Charles E. Young Research Library.
The stickers both read, “Yup, immigrating to the US in violation of US law STILL makes you an illegal immigrant.” They also featured images of a woman holding an accordion, a coiled-up snake and the “Eye of Providence” symbol of an eye enclosed by a triangle.
The stickers come less than a week after stickers criticizing Freddie Gray that read, “Stop whining and start following the goddamn law,” were found outside the Afrikan Student Union’s office and other locations on campus. One of the stickers found Tuesday covered up an older one posted last week.
Afrikan Student Union members asked UCLA to respond to racism on campus after the incident. UCLA submitted a response to The Bruin Monday saying individuals should be respectful to others and respond to complex and emotional issues with integrity and sensitivity.
Students left comments on the stickers in response to the messages. One comment reads, “You’re in colonized land tho!!”
University police spokeswoman Nancy Greenstein said in an email Wednesday that UCPD has not received reports of the new stickers, and she encouraged students to call police when they first observe incidents so UCPD can better record and collect evidence.
UCLA could not be immediately reached for comment for this article.
