Problems on MyUCLA prevent students from securing commencement tickets

Frustrated seniors repeatedly refreshed the MyUCLA website and waited for it to work Tuesday as technical problems prevented them from securing tickets for the 2015 commencement ceremony.

The university’s information technology department was aware of the problem and working to resolve it as of press time, said Jean-Paul Renaud, senior director of communications for the UCLA College of Letters and Science, in an email statement. He added that officials are asking students to return to the site later Tuesday.

Students were notified on MyUCLA that they could begin ordering tickets on Tuesday, according to the UCLA commencement website.

Fourth-year communication studies student Anthony Fernandez said he was inconvenienced by the site problems because he was only able to log into MyUCLA and navigate to the commencement page after several attempts. He couldn’t reserve tickets for either commencement ceremony.

“I have people flying in for the ceremony, and I don’t know what to tell them or how many tickets I can get,” Fernandez said.
