Throwback Thursday: Winter Week 6

Today, Gary Beban, who led UCLA to its first Rose Bowl victory in 1966, remains the only player from UCLA to have earned the Heisman Trophy, which he received in 1967. A year later Beban was drafted onto the Washington Redskins with whom he played for for 3 years.

Curtis Rowe became one of the best players on the UCLA basketball team back when he played under coach John Wooden from 1968-1971. In addition to Curtis helping lead the Bruins to 3 NCAA championships, he was a 2 time First-team All-Pac-8 player, Consensus second team All-American, was a 1st round pick onto the Detroit Pistons, later played for the Boston Celtics, and was an NBA All Star.

John Belushi was given his first ever award, the annual Jack Benny Award of Excellence in Comedy in Royce Hall in front of 1,500 students. Belushi also revealed to the audience his decision that he would not be returning as a cast member to Saturday Night Live.
